Fort Lewis Trail System

This is a 15 trail system with a range of difficulties from easy to advanced. Some are connector trails to gain access to other trails in this system.

Squawker/Talker/Shocker Trail– These are all short connection trails

Rim Trail– This is an easy trail that offers great views. It is a 2.9 mile trail with and elevation gain of 415 ft.

Lions Den Trail– An easy 1.7 mile trail. This trail has a bench about half way up where you can enjoy the views and turn around if you want a shorter trek.

Bread Express Trail– This is a short connector trail that can get you to Skyline and Powerline trails. You an access this trail from Florida Road.

Ball Lane– This is a parking are where you can connect with Skyline, Powerline and Bread Express Trail.

Powerline Trail– A 2.4 mile trail. You can access this trail either from Horse Gulch Road or Chapman Hill Ice Rink off Florida Road.

Skyline Trail– A 3.1 mile trail with some advanced switchbacks, so be prepared. This is an out and back trail.

Lamppost Trail– This is a short trail that can be accessed from 8th st.

Nature Trail- a mile long interactive trail that is great for the kiddos. To start going uphill, park near East 6th Avenue and 10th Street; the trail begins at the corner of East 6th Avenue and 10th Street. To start going downhill, from downtown Durango follow North College Drive, or 8th Avenue, to Rim Drive. Parking is available across from the chapel.

Sky Steps– The stairway, which extends over 500 steps and gains over 250 feet in elevation along the Nature Trail.

Chapman Kids Up-Down Trail– Located at the base of Chapman Hill. This is a kids easy bike course to practice those skills.

Chapman Hill Jump and Flowlines–  Located at the base of Chapman Hill. Head to the top for some big bike jumps and fun.
